Wes Barnett is VP of Business Development for Thorne. He was the director of International Games at the United States Olympic Committee after previously serving as a USOC sport performance team leader since December 2006. He serveed as Team USA’s chef de mission for the first time at the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Barnett returned to the USOC after serving nearly five years as the Executive Director for USA Weightlifting. One of the original USOC Sports Partnership team members (2000-02), he also previously served as a Drug Control Administrator from 1997-2000.
A two-time Olympian in weightlifting (1992, 1996) Barnett reigned over the U.S. heavyweight division for eight years as national champion. His 1999 U.S. title came just six months after returning to the sport following a bout with cancer. He placed 13th at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and sixth at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. At the 1997 World Championships, he claimed silver in the clean-and-jerk and was a bronze medalist in the total (clean-and-jerk and snatch lifts combined).
Joel Totoro is currently a registered dietitian for Thorne. Previously, he was the Nutrition Solutions Manager at EXOS in Phoenix, AZ working with the Performance and Innovation Team. Prior to joining EXOS he was sports dietitian for the University of Michigan working with Football, Hockey, Men's & Women's basketball and chair of the Human Performance Committee.
Totoro came to Michigan from the New England Patriots serving eight years as team dietitian, where he became the first full-time sports dietitian in professional sports. While with the Patriots, he directed all aspects of the team’s nutrition and wellness needs.
Totoro also served as the assistant chief dietitian at St. Luke’s Hospital in Massachusetts, specializing in trauma nutrition, from 2002 to 2004. He received his Bachelor of Science in Allied Health-Dietetics from the University of Connecticut in May 2002.
