Hi! I’m Nicole Angemi. I am a married “dura mater” of three girls in my 40s. My days consist of writing, playing with my kids, going on fun dates with my husband, and occasionally dissecting humans on the side.
I began my education in the early 2000s gaining my BS in cytotechnology from Thomas Jefferson University. From there, I went on to achieve my MS from Drexel University. In addition to my degrees, I am also a board-certified cytotechnologist and pathologists’ assistant through the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology). I have over 20 years of experience in the laboratory including microbiology, cytology, surgical pathology, and autopsy.
About 6 years ago, I started to bring my work experience to Instagram. I thought everything I was seeing and learning in the pathology lab was so cool and decided to share it with everyone! I am the curator of my main Instagram account @mrs_angemi which focuses on pathology. It is based around the 5 manners of death: natural, accident, suicide, homicide, and undetermined. I have thousands of posts showing death, near death, accidents, preventable and non-preventable diseases. I post these types of images with information to educate the everyday person, not just those in the field of medicine.
More recently, I started another Instagram account for fun called @beforelifeafterdeath. This account is a different, lighter complement to my main account which focuses on ancestry and genetics.
Check out my first book, Nicole Angemi’s Anatomy Book: A Catalog of Familiar, Rare, and Unusual Pathologies, out now!
