Mike Durant is the Pinnacle President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Durant oversees all aspects of the company, including development of company mission and purpose, ensuring adequate resources and effective management, providing fiscal accountability and budget approval, and establishing strategic plans, goals, and objectives.
Mr. Durant is a New York Times best-selling author of In the Company of Heroes and The Night Stalkers. He was the pilot of Black Hawk helicopter Super Six Four that was shot down during the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. Mr. Durant was held captive for 11 days, and his story was portrayed in the Academy Award winning movie, “Black Hawk Down”.
He retired from the Army in 2001 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 Blackhawk helicopter Master Aviator in the 160th SOAR after participating in combat operations Prime Chance, Just Cause, Desert Storm, and Gothic Serpent. In 2008, he was inducted into the Army Aviation Hall of Fame. In 2013, Mr. Durant was named Vetrepreneur of the Year.
He has received the Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with Valor Device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, the POW/MIA ribbon, and numerous other military awards. Mr. Durant received an M.B.A. in Aviation and a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
