Episode 713 - Rebecca Ivory
Hi, I'm Dr. Rebecca Ivory, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I earned my doctorate from the University of Delaware, where I studied the treatment of chronic pain and trauma symptoms among United States Navy SEALs. My practice centers on partnering with you: understanding your concerns, collaborating with you on setting and achieving goals, and developing a supportive relationship. You are heard and your input is valued. Although I invest in building a long-term relationship with you, my goal is to "graduate" you by guiding and empowering you to use coping skills, self-reflection, and other strategies to effectively self-manage your mental health.
My prescribing philosophy can be summed up with the adage: "If you can't make your own neurotransmitters, store-bought is fine". Because medication + therapy is the gold-standard treatment for most mental health care, expect to work on more than "just" medication check-ins when you come to see me. I will challenge you to learn and grow through education and therapeutic discussion, and I will collaborate with your therapist if you have one.
When working together with me, you can expect genuine and direct dialogue, respectful boundaries, goal-setting, education, and humor.
