Episode 577 - Dr EJ Caterson
Dr. Caterson was the first graduate of the Jefferson PhD program in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. He then completed a combined residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Harvard/Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston. He served a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at New York University, Langone Medical Center - Bellevue, Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Caterson is board-certified in plastic surgery.
Before joining Nemours, Dr. Caterson was Assistant Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, and Director of Craniofacial Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has been involved in research projects that have garnered more than $2 million in funded support.
Dr. Caterson is a reviewer for a number of journals and is the associate editor for the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery. He is a member of professional societies including: American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation.
Dr. Caterson is active in Operation Smile and other humanitarian surgical efforts. He is also an active member of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) (IMSURT) team, the U.S. government medical and surgical response team for international disaster response.
